Last year, South Africa launched its ambitious gas-to-power programme, rolling out a request for information as the government sought accelerated growth to address the current energy crisis facing the country. South Africa over the last 12 months has garnered international interest for the introduction of a standardised gas procurement process.

★With the impending release of the Project Information Memorandum (PIM) and the subsequent Request for Qualification (RFQ) this year, the 2nd South Africa: Gas Options meeting will focus on the critical steps needed to move from PIM to RFQ to pave the way for the development of South Africa’s gas to power landscape.

★ Once again supported by the IPP office and the Department of Energy, this meeting will give participants direct and exclusive access to the stakeholders driving the agenda for the gas to power programme.

★ An updated agenda is now available to download for this meeting, focusing on the role of regional cooperation in the gas-to-power programme, an LNG to power masterclass, infrastructure considerations and an update on the Role of the Gas Industrialisation Unit (GIU).

Backed by the South African IPP Office, this unique meeting takes a detailed look at the opportunities available for gas developers and private sector investors as a result of South Africa’s growing power demands. As South Africa’s economy buckles under rolling black outs and frequent load-shedding, identifying and understanding South Africa’s unique requirements for gas acquisition will be crucial to guarantee investment success for future decades. Participants will debate solutions to the challenges of raising finance, delivering an efficient transmission infrastructure and the supporting industry, and the global LNG trends which could realise the country’s vision of a stable and sufficient power supply
