I went to calais in order to see what was really going on there for myself! I wanted to make my own news report of the situation as opposed to being fed by the media. I sing about refugees and immigration in my music a lot ever since I started as an 14 year old. Opportunities like this are important because it allows me to understand the other african boy’s stories of travel, I also get to ask questions directly about what its like being a refugee. This helps me to paint a better picture. I wanted to provide a little glimpse of the reality of ‘the Jungle’ for my friends and family all other the world to see it how it is. That is why I went to Calais!

Afrikan Boy will be on tour in April 2016, with a new EP and album to follow in the autumn. Folllow him on twitter @AfrikanBoy and visit www.afrikanboy.com for more info.
