Soundcrash presents an evening of Afrofusion in London’s most intimate venue…

Nelson Neves was born in Beira, Mozambique and is a product from the Cena tribe. His musical career kicked off in 2000 while working as a performing artist in a singing & dancing company of “Casa de Cultura” in his home town Beira. He is the founder of the well-known band in Mozambique called Djaaka. Nelson has toured various countries in Europe & Africa. This touring led him and the band to record their first album “Mbole Mbole Nha Ngona”.

In 2015, Nelson created “Nelson & Friends”, a collective in London, an Afro-fusion project, which blends Mozambique music with jazz and funk.Nelson’s music is inspired by some of African names such as Youssour N’dour, Madala Kunene, Miriam Makeba and some of Mozambique names as David Mazembe, Severino and many more.

The collective has gained a whispered reputation around East London for their irresistible rhythms and captivating melodies, which makes it impossible for even the most reluctant dancer not to get up on their feet and move. Everywhere they go, they bring a positive atmosphere and make people dance, come and experience it for yourself in an intimate evening at Echoes Live.

DJ support for the evening will come from Fenomeno show. Fenomeno Show offers an Old school vinyl selection serving a 360° view of reggae music from Ska, Rocksteady, Roots,Rub-a-Dub, Dub to new roots and Dancehall! Fenomeno show specializes in Dubplates and Remixes with uplifting mic skills! His music library also includes Afrobeat, World Music, special remixes and bass-culture in general.
