Tendai mwari Queens and Kings, Sisters and Brothers, Ladies and Gentlemen the time has arrived for us to deliver yet another blow to the greed of the technology industry with the 22nd edition of Poetry Meets Art, yes the 22nd! Join us in the poetic and artistic ring for another evening of creative expression as we support the Congolese and win the fight for ethical technology as we continue to move forward as ONE!

Nebula Nebula

The artist who uses her paint brush as a sword is back! The creativity of this multi-talented artist goes from strength to strength at an inspiring rate so keep up! The beautiful and distinctive art that she creates from the poetry, performances, presentations and energy at this event just gets better and better and is a perfect reflection of all those who attend and the atmospher. Make sure you’re at this event to be part of the art and witness the magic.

Siana Bangura

This is one seriously amazing force to not reckon with or miss out on so please sure you’re ready! The prolific blogger, spoken word artist, poet, writer and women’s right activist is more than just a cute face and fashionista – her lyrics run deep with meaning and touch a raw nerve that allows us all to conect with eachother on the most simplest yet intricate level – as human beings. And then there’s her sweet and demure performance style that is captivating, simply allowing her words and unique flow to seep into her soul one minute and the next sweep you into into a hurricane of letters! Remember I told you this so again, make sure you’re ready…

WordPlay 

Smooth, sauve and sophisticated….which really helps to deal with the lethal lyrical injecton of realness that WordPlay delivers to his audience every time without fail! This brilliant performance poet lives up to his name as he weaves intricate webs with words and rhythms to create beautiful and clever poems….but make sure you listen carefully to avoid getting tangled and miss the beat! WordPlay’s material is thought-provoking yet crafted in such a way that it effortlessly flows and reaches every part of your mind but make sure you pay attention…you’ve been warned!

Malik Sankara

Uh-ohh….make sure the fire brigade are on standby because the mic will be left smoking after this rapper, hip hop artist, writer and performer is done, no lie! Malik Sankara has graced the stage before to do a presentation on Dream Catchers but this time is back as a performer and I can’t wait. Hard-hitting lyrics that act a both a personal story and social commentary are what you can expect from Malik Sankara as he takes us all on a journey. And no stranger to the stage as well….he is part of The Roundhouse Collective so expect a whole lot of greatness, finese and a raw slice or reality

Sid Mercutio

Yes, the DJ who is the most recent addition to this events and been bringing that good old skool vibes and are we liking it or are we liking it? Sid Mercutio is not only one of the DJs at Got Soul – London’s only weekly soul lounge – but also a producer and performer who shines on the stage! Imagine  What could possibly better than chilling, networking and simply being whilst the listening to some good ole old skool hip hop, soul with a splash of an afro groove here and there! Food, Glorious food!

Okay, if you haven’t tried the fod here, you’re missing out big time! There’s a feast for the eyes alone with the the colours and range of new vegan dishes to try out so just imagine what a tantalising treat this is for your tastebuds?! Think stews, rice, cous-cous, pealr barley and/or quinoa salad, rainbow salad….mmm! There’s something special about people gathering to eat together and this event provides the space for it. Come along right after work and grab a plate of fresh food made with seasonal, fairtrade and organic products for only £3, yes, £3!

Panzi Hospital

10% of the door money will go towards this hospital, foundation anfd orphange based in eastern Congo. Our support so far has enabled Dr Denis Mukwege to train up 4 more surgeons who operate on fistulas which allows him to carry out his activist work. Also, our support is helping more and more women to break the silence on rape and  demand justice which is great so let’s keep up the good work!
