Due to to his powerful stage presence and the exceptional dexterity of his kora playing, griot extraordinary N’Faly Kouyaté has been dubbed the “Jimi Hendrix of the kora” and brought this ancient traditional instrument into the electronic age. Such is N’Faly Kouyate’s unique charisma that when his tall stature appears on stage beside his good friend and colleague Johnny Kalsi in the Afro Celt Sound System’s colourful line up, the crowd erupts in appreciation.

His hard hitting band effortlessly combines N’Faly’s diverse musical influences and produces tracks ranging from dance orientated Afro-tech music that brings you sounds similar to the ethnic rock of bands like Santana to more subtle jazz-funk and traditional African tracks. The new album also features Ladysmith Black Mambazo, on the track “All Unite for Africa”
