A 9-day trip with five days of cycling across Tanzania to fund-raise on behalf of Bread and Water for Africa UK and support life-changing educational programmes across Africa for anyone with a passion for overseas development work and who is physically able to follow a moderate cycling training plan for at least five months ahead of the challenge date.
Would you like to embark on the adventure of a lifetime and support a great cause?
Join our Bread and Water for Africa UK Team for a nine-day trip to Tanzania to cycle from the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro to the gates of the Ngorongoro Crater Reserve for a unique and fulfilling experience. Leading up to your trip, you will commit to not only training for the cycling component of this challenge – but you will also be advocating and raising funds for Bread and Water for Africa UK’s programmes across Africa.
Truly the adventure of a lifetime, for our last challenge in November 2014, a group of supporters and members of the Bread and Water for Africa UK team, cycled 350km over five consecutive days across the awe-inspiring landscapes of Tanzania from Mt. Kilimanjaro onward and up, up, and up to the Ngorongoro Crater Reserve gate!
Last time we raised £42,000 starting in Moshi with stops at the Olpopongi Masaai Village, Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara, and Arusha – the trip was an opportunity to travel and experience a country in an entirely new way. But not only was this trip a physical challenge and eye-opening experience – the cycling team raised a total of £42,000 for our life-changing programmes across Africa! We couldn’t be more grateful for their enthusiastic fundraising efforts and for their teamwork and grit in tackling the cycling challenge.
You don’t need to be a cycling expert or tip-top athlete to participate. Truly, the 2014 team was comprised of individuals who ranged in experience from avid road cyclists to those who only got on a bike 5 months ahead of the challenge – all are welcome!
And if you’ve never fundraised before – that’s no problem! We provide you all the information you need about our programmes plus an extensive variety of ideas to get you started – you’ll be surprised how many of your own friends, family, and community will want to support your exciting effort.
So bring your sense of adventure, a commitment to Africa’s future, and preferably a sturdy helmet, and join us for the 2016 Cycle.
