The gifted jazz pianist and composer performs a rare solo concert, an intimate opportunity to experience his mix of Jazz, African Gospel sounds and film soundtracks.
A distinctive pianist associated with the New York jazz scene as well as artists like Hugh Masekela and Duke Ellington, Ibrahim’s solo concerts create a very special atmosphere like none other. Contemplative and absorbing, they probe the essence of the rich musical heritage of his native South Africa, with echoes of township and traditional music combined with traces of African gospel, and his own distinct original material, the new and highly influential sound he coined as ‘Cape Jazz’.
