Dr Ayesha Ahmad is currently based at the Institute for Global Health at University College London where she specialises in global mental health and humanitarian action and ethics, in particular gender based violence during conflict. Her background is Philosophy with a PhD in Medical Ethics and a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychoanalysis specialising in trauma.
Ayesha also co-chairs a Working Group on Culture and Gender in Disasters, Conflict and Humanitarian Settings and is a guest lecturer on the MSc in Transcultural Psychiatry at Queen Mary University of London. She's delivered her lectures internationally and is currently working on story telling as a therapeutic activity for women who have experienced gender based violence in Kabul, Afghanistan.
