WOMEN WRITERS OF THE FUTURE: SI LEEDS PRIZE

October 9, 2016 @ 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

| £9.75

Hear a discussion of diversity in publishing at this pre-award event for the SI Leeds Literary Prize.

The lack of diversity in publishing has long been a problem and a fervently debated topic. But what attempts are being made to address it? How might we build and sustain an inclusive industry that would be more reflective of the vibrant and varied voices Britain has to offer?

Multi-award-winning author and literary critic Bernardine Evaristo hosts a roundtable discussion of these themes and others. She is joined by the authors shortlisted for this year’s SI Leeds Literary Prize, which recognises unpublished fiction by black and Asian women.

In addition to the roundtable, tonight’s pre-award event encompasses performances, readings from the shortlisted works and a chance to meet the authors.

Supported by Southbank Centre and Peepal Tree Press.

Inaugurated in 2014, the SI Leeds Literary Prize is a national biennial award for black and Asian women writers resident in the UK. Its patrons include Bonnie Greer and Yasmin Alibhai-Brown.
