Awakening of the Lion: Realising Africa’s Potential

Warwick Africa Summit is a two-day event with an aim to celebrate the continent’s future as well as its economic growth. The event aims to draw from a pool of industry leaders with a wealth of knowledge of the region. The 2017 Warwick Africa Summit will be focused on the “Awakening of the Lion: Realising Africa’s Potential”.
This theme explores an innovative range of solutions to the challenges that have hindered Africa’s progress, building on the testimony of those who are the drivers of change. The summit presents a platform to address the different difficulties faced by the continent through the multi-disciplinary keynote speeches and panels of Human and Economic Development, Gender Equality and, Sustainability and Renewable Energy.
The aim to generate engagement, innovation and collaboration between students, academics and practitioners as well as raise awareness of a continent which is not always understood.  Speakers range from politicians, bankers, entrepreneurs, activists to philanthropist who have dedicated their lives to unlocking the Continent’s true potential.
This event is sponsored by Go Global, Warwick’s Politics and International Studies Department, Warwick’s Economics Department and will be co-hosted by the Warwick International Development Society and Warwick Emerging Market Society.
