Sarah Ladipo Manyika and Abubakar Adam Ibrahim In Conversation
Sarah Ladipo Manyika was raised in Nigeria and has lived in Kenya, France, and England. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, and teaches literature at San Francisco State University. Her writing includes essays, academic papers, reviews and short stories. Sarah sits on the boards of Hedgebrook and San Francisco’s Museum of the African Diaspora and was the Chair of Judges for the Etisalat Prize for Literature in 2015. Her second novel, Like a Mule Bringing Ice Cream to the Sun has been shortlisted for the Goldsmiths Prize 2016.
Abubakar Adam Ibrahim is a Nigerian writer and journalist. His debut short story collection The Whispering Trees (Parresia Publishers, 2012) was long-listed for the Etisalat Prize for Literature in 2014. The title story was shortlisted for the prestigious Caine Prize for African Writing in 2013. Ibrahim is a Gabriel Garcia Marquez Fellow (2013) and a Civitella Ranieri Fellow (2015). His debut novel Season of Crimson Blossoms won the prestigious NLNG Prize for Literature 2016.
