WOA Article Challenge: 001

The What’s On Africa Cultural Journalism Programme is a project supported by the British Council (Nigeria) – with the aim of nurturing a robust cultural journalism sector in Nigeria and beyond, through mentorship and link building between UK and African journalists and publications. The programme is this year, focused on Nigeria. The articles published here are part of our first article challenge. The 29 participant writers were asked to write an article responding to ‘The State of Cultural Journalism in Nigeria – and what we can do about it’; six of the strongest articles were put forward to our mentors, and the top ones are published here, including their winning selection by Ifeoluwa Nihinlola.
