The development finance landscape has changed dramatically since the Paris and Busan Declarations. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have raised global development ambitions; traditional donor-recipient distinctions have evolved into partnerships; new finance providers have emerged; and a growing share of development finance is now provided by actors such as the private sector who may have little understanding of development effectiveness principles.
We need to build a new consensus on development effectiveness that’s fit for the SDG era – a consensus that draws on the evidence of the past decade and reflects the realities of development finance today.
Ahead of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation meeting in Nairobi the following month, join ministers, senior officials, development strategists and leading international thinkers to help shape the new agenda on development effectiveness.
